Travelling information

How you get from Prague airport to the railway station:

The best way is to take the AirportExpress bus. You find the stop in front of the airport (2nd curb, slightly to the right). The bus leaves every 30 min. You need to buy a ticket from the bus driver; the cost is 60 CZK (you need Czech currency, which you can get at the airport). You may be interested to know that the final stop of the bus is the main railway station ("Hlavni nadrazi", = > hl.n.). The bus stop is situated at the opposite side of the station and you will use a lift to go down to the main hall.

How you get from Prague to Olomouc:

You will take an express train from the main train station. Please, find appropriate ticket
counter and buy one way ticket to OLOMOUC (the right pronunciation is “Olomoutz”, not “Olomuk”).

Please, note that the LEO Express and RegioJet trains have different ticket offices than the Czech Railways (ČD). You may buy some food on the train, but you may wish to buy something to eat and drink at the station, where you have a bigger choice.

Accommodation:

We booked rooms for the participants in Hotel Arigone, which is situated right in the center of the town and 15 minutes from the railway station. You do not need to do any additional reservation. Just please let us know as soon as possible if you want to occupy single-bed room or if you want to share the room with someone else.
We offer you to drive you to the hotel. In this case, please let us know the estimated time of arrival. Otherwise, you can take the tram number 2,3,4,6 and get off at náměstí Republiky (Square of the Republic) and take the street Universitní on your left side.

You will be asked to pay about 2000,-CZK/person/night at the reception desk.

As countless tourists embrace the overt charms of Prague and Český Krumlov, Olomouc (Olla-moats) exudes a subdued appeal, emerging as the travellers’ equivalent of a special restaurant that is your own little secret. An old town square rivalling that in Prague for scale and beauty, combines with the youthful vivacity of a modern student town amid the graceful campus of the country’s second oldest university. Some of Moravia’s most impressive religious structures play host to a thrilling history, and a youthful population looks to the future with a quiet confidence. And, with tourist numbers at a mere trickle, Olomouc is one of the Czech Republic’s best-value cities.
